Rethinking the future...

Read a book Rethinking the future edited by Rowan Gibson which is a compilation of thoughts by people like
  • Rowan Gibson:-Tomorrow's successful leaders as per Warren Bennis "They will decentralize power and democratize strategy by involving a rich mixture of different people from inside and outside the organisation in the process of inventing the future"
  • Charles Handy:-
    1.Life is full of contradictions and surprises,that it is in fact full of paradoxes.
    2.If employed people are intelligent and self thinkers, give them responsibilities, empower them otherwise they will leave you.
    3.Give space to employee initiatives, define success.Some people work very hard, whole burden falls on one individual, which he can't cope.The result can be burnout or at least lot of stress.
    4.The great and most satisfying thing in life, i think, is a sense of purpose beyond yourself, if the purpose is selfcentered it rapidly dissipates.
  • Stephen Covey:-
    1.Tomorrow's successful leaders will value principles more than they value their companies
    2.The leader as a farmer "you have to create the right conditions, the right climate for growth and opportunity"

Boss

Boss biting and boss hating is a common phenomenon everywhere.
I was also not immune to this.

In my span of 11 years of 4 job changes when i look back...
In the initial years there was huge fire under my belly, urge and desire to grow, to learn,to succeed, to be accepted,to prove my point,to be appreciated.I put in more working hours,gave interesting assignments to my students,tried to improve their knowledge of the subject being taught,make the class more interesting.

I got my due back also...
My students and their parents liked me,my bosses liked me,encouraged me,gave me increments...
But after every two ot three years of any job i got tired,frustrated,job became monotonous, i hated my employer,their policies,their meanness, the feelings of being controlled by them overpowered me and i quit...

Now i am the same me,with same fire but the measure is decreased.I understand my bosses,my organisation,the pressures,the constraints,the business.when i see a fresh graduate expressing "what is this,the policies are not good,i did not get my increment,the environment is not good,system is not good and all that..."

I know he is growing up...
