Stress Busters …
Life in a metro city…
Job in a college…
A principal and his “ what happened, why the classes are not running, why internet is not working, when the campus wide networking software will be ready, conduct online exams properly, buy softwares”…
A dean and his “kindly prepare and submit the following info by today evening”…
25 staff members to manage, most of them women “I am doing more work, she is sitting
Idly, v r doing a lot of unnecessary clerical work, v r teachers we’ll only teach”
450 students each one unique “kindly change the X teacher, he is not teaching properly, permit me to go earlier”, irregularity, ragging, disciplinary issues.
Parents of students with their weird requests “v should know even if he/she is absent for one day, why he is getting less marks, what measures r u taking to improve his results, kindly add attendance this time so that he will not get detained”…
An erratic lab with moody power supply and more moody UPS…
Added to that my own madness for documentation, perfection, six sigma "prepare lesson plans, CDDs(course delivery documents), every activity should be planned and executed, don't use ur brains do what ur boss expects from u, weekly meetings, KRAs(key responsibility areas)"...
By now u might have understood how tiring, boring, stressful job of a HOD of a department is and might also have been waiting when I would end this rhetoric!!!
Really I get tired, I get headache, backache, legache and all aches!!!
But this is not a very novel situation; u all might have been going thru this. How do u tackle this!!!
My way of handling them is thru my Stress Busters!!! Like:
1. become chief chef on Sunday at home, plan and execute a three/four course meal with desserts,
salads, juices…
2. Draw and paint with my daughter…
3. Cleanliness and repairs drive on holidays…
4. Writing blogs like these and make others read by force!
5. Dream about my farmhouse, organic farming plans after retirement.
6. talk, tease and rag collegues!
